Acorns to Oaks - COP26 Glasgow

  • Meet at Fountain Kelvingrove Park Glasgow, G12 8LU United Kingdom (map)

Ritual to call for climate and environmental leadership at COP26, calling on the wisdom of the Oak.

Please join us on the first day of COP26, at 1pm at the Kelvingrove Park, where we will hold ritual before making our way to the COP26 site to deliver a sacred gift to world leaders. (Entrance via Gray St. Meet at fountain)

Acorns represent a seed prayer and intention that, once planted, will grow into something large, beautiful and strong. The oak, which is a symbol of leadership, is at the heart of druidic practice, while trees in a more general sense have an important role to play in combatting climate change.

The Order of the Oak’s Stuart Jeffery says: “We draw up the spirit of the oak for leadership, leadership that grows from tiny acorns to magnificent oaks: leadership of ourselves to be in right relationship with all that’s around us, to act in a responsible way, to learn and to teach; leadership of our communities, to foster cooperation and interdependence; and leadership of our world, to speak out against injustice and ecocide, to speak for those who have no voice.”

There has never been a point in human history more defining than the COP26. The future of the planet hangs on getting a firm agreement to meet the needs of the Earth, Sea and Sky. Anything less that an urgent rapid global reduction in greenhouse gases will result in cataclysmic climate change, severe damage to the ecosphere and the end of human society. There is simply no time left to act.

Talk is easy, strategies and promises are easy. Action is not but it is action that is required. To quote Greta Thunberg, anything else is just “Blah, blah, blah.”

So if you are able to join us in Glasgow, we look forward to seeing you there.
