Acorns to Oaks: A call for leadership
Sacred Earth Activism joined Order of the Oak to call for effective leadership at all levels of society during the forthcoming climate talks in November in order to guard against any worsening of the current climate and ecological crises.
Individuals and groups following Earth-centred spiritual paths from across the UK, Europe and the USA, came together to ceremonially plant acorns, on 17 November. Acorns represent a seed prayer and intention that, once planted, grow into something big and strong. The oak, which is a symbol of leadership, is at the heart of druidic practice, while trees in a more general sense have an important role to play in combatting climate change.
As acorns were difficult to find this year in the UK, some groups held their ceremony around a mature oak tree, while others sought out young saplings to connect with or to plant.

Onwards to COP26 Glasgow
Sacred Earth Activism and The Order of the Oak are calling on individuals and groups from all Earth-centred spiritual paths to add their signature to the letter, which has so far beeen signed by both over a hundred and fifty eminent Druids from around the world as well as non-affiliated but concerned individuals.
This letter asks world leaders to agree to eight important changes to global strategy. These include developing a radical plan to deal with climate change, making ecocide an international crime, and providing stronger protection for the legal rights of indigenous communities and environmental guardians. have signed the open letter to the leaders too.
The group were due to deliver this letter to Boris Johnson, following a ritual in Parliament Square on 18 November, but the Prime Minister had to cancel the arrangement because of other meetings scheduled.
The letter will be delivered on the first day of COP26, the 1st Nov after a ritual in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.
